afternoon delight

Wow. The last two days have SERIOUSLY been ridiculous, exhausting, but great at the same time. Returning to the deli was just like jumping back on a bike. It's almost strange to me that it's been such a simple transition back to working at the deli, but it's also encouraging to know that I can handle it, especially since I'll only be working for about 3 weeks.

So, anyway, the last two days have been almost entirely filled with working. Yesterday for 5 hours, today for 10. Yes, 10. Not to mention we had a record-breaking sales day today with 3 straight hours of madness. But, I'd almost rather be ridiculously busy than be slow and bored. Anyway, one of the best parts of working here and being here in Edwards is the small-town atmosphere. It's kind of funny that I'll remember people's names just from them coming into the Deli (we ask for a name with every order), but even this summer I've remembered some names from last summer, but I don't want to be a creeper, so I still ask for names just to be sure.

Anyway, I'm obviously so tired that I'm rambling. I can tell that it's happening. So, tomorrow I have another 10 hour work day, but being the loser that I am, I'm gonna try to get up early and walk down to the store for breakfast. It gets me going, gives me a little exercise, and definitely prepares me for the day ahead. Okay, I think I've written enough, and if you're still reading at this point, I greatly commend your efforts.

So this afternoon once we'd calmed down a little bit, my cousin Kraig and I started rocking out to "Afternoon Delight" because it came on the radio. It was fun, and slightly ridiculous...but it pretty much summed up the ridiculousness of the entire day. So I leave you with the wise, wise words of Bill Danoff and the Starland Vocal Band, popularized by the lovely, hairy, and talented Ron Burgundy.

"Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ignite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.
Sky Rockets in flight.
Afternoon delight.
Afternoon delight."
